Former Disability Discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes will reflect on his time in the role during a wide-ranging conversation with leading authority on disability law, Professor Gerard Quinn from the National University Ireland, Galway.

The event, Disability Rights – A Global Agenda for the 21st Century, the 2015 Annual Lecture of the UNSW’s Australian Human Rights Centre (AHRCentre) will be held next week on Thursday, 4 June. It will be moderated by Rosemary Kayess who co-directs the AHRCentre’s disability and human rights project.

All three of the speakers participated in the development of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which came into effect in 2008.

A photographic exhibition, featuring internationally acclaimed photojournalist Paula Bronstein’s work on people with disability, will be launched as part of the event. Living in chains shows the circumstances of individuals who suffer from stigma and misinformation.
