UNSW has been ranked in the top 75 institutions for engineering, technology and computer science, according to the latest world university rankings.

The ranking, which favours research universities, was carried out by the Institute of Higher Education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

UNSW was one of seven Australian universities to rank among the world's top 100 performers in a research field.

Overall, UNSW ranked in the top 200. It was one of 17 Australian institutions to make it into the top 500.

The Shanghai Jiao Tong ranking is just one of a number of recent acknowledgements of UNSW's Faculty of Engineering.

UNSW was acknowledged as having Australia's top performing Engineering discipline when the Melbourne Institute released their Discipline Ratings for Australian Universities in November 2006.

In 2005 UNSW was named as having the best engineering school in Australia and the 16th best in the world in the UK's Times Higher Education Supplement World University Rankings. In the 2006 THES rankings it was 2nd and 18th in the world, with Melbourne having a slight edge at 16.
