IPCC report – Climate experts available for comment

UNSW scientists have played a key role as authors and editors in the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, due out this Friday 6.30pm AEST.

The report, published every six years, is considered to be the most important in climate change research.

Dr Lisa Alexander, from UNSW’s Climate Change Research Centre, will be in Stockholm for the report’s official release. She is a lead author for the Extremes section and is also a drafting author for the Summary for Policymakers document.

Professor Steve Sherwood, also from the Climate Change Research Centre, is a chapter editor for the aerosols section.

The UNSW Climate Change Research Centre is the largest university-based climate sciences research facility in Australia. It houses research expertise in the areas of oceanography, terrestrial processes and atmospheric dynamics.

Also based at UNSW is the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science. UNSW Professor and Centre Director Andy Pitman is a review editor of the forthcoming report following on from his role as a chapter author in earlier reports.
