Economics honours student and International Programs Manager, at Muslim Aid Australia (MAA), Tanvir Uddin, visited Khyber-Paktunkwha province, one of the most flood damaged areas in Pakistan to help administer aid to affected families.

Uddin, a Scientia Scholar and Goldman Sachs Global Leader, was the only representative from an Australian Muslim aid organization to visit Pakistan, an experience he found both overwhelming and inspiring.

"I'd read all the facts and figures in Australian media reports but when I got there the scale of destruction really hit me," said Uddin. "I met families who didn't know where their next meal or drinking water would come from, let alone where they would sleep that night."

Uddin said his time in Pakistan allowed him to put his economics knowledge to practical use, overseeing the administration of donor funds and working collaboratively with other non-government organizations.

Uddin's trip to Pakistan provided the opportunity for him to discuss long-term rehabilitation projects including shelter, medical centres and livelihood assistance.
