Making a city-sized dent in e-waste

UNSW Sustainability's battery recycling program has earned them a nomination for the prestigious Australasian Green Gowns Award.

How do you tackle the problem when you discover that your University's waste contains hundreds of kilos of batteries that could be recycled? That was the question facing UNSW Sustainability. With the installation of over 50 battery recycling stations across UNSW's Sydney campus, the battery recycling program has been named as a finalist in the 2017 Green Gown Awards. With the help of volunteers and mail room staff, and partner MRI e-cycle solutions, UNSW now recycles more batteries every year than the City of Sydney. Watch to find out how we do it.
