High performing companies will be offered insights into how they've outsmarted the competition as part of a project by the Australian School of Business and the Society for Knowledge Economics.

Professor Alec Cameron, Dean of the Australian School of Business, said the research would inform the corporate sector where there is a need for innovation.

"As Australia's leading business school, we are delighted to be heading up this research into high performing companies.

"There is a growing body of evidence suggesting those businesses that are highly effective also excel at innovation, achieving high levels of employee engagement," said Professor Cameron, who is co-chairing the research committee.

The study, covering leadership, culture, and management practices, would also help to develop recommendations for government policy, professional associations and curriculum development.

Stage two of the project involves independent consultants and ASB researchers working with companies to further boost performance.
