UNSW has claimed the top spot nationally for Accounting and Finance in the 2015 QS world university rankings, with 18 of our subjects in the world’s top 50.

Accounting and Finance was placed 12th in the world and leads the University’s top performers.

Rounding out UNSW’s five subjects in the top 20 are Civil and Structural Engineering (14), Law and Psychology (both 15), with the newly introduced subject area of Business and Management Studies ranked 19th.

Once again, every subject area within Engineering and Technology was ranked within the world’s top 50 – with big gains for Chemical Engineering, which jumped 18 places to 28th spot. For the full results, go to the QS website.

UNSW has shown new strengths in the 2015 rankings, with notable results in four new subject areas, all of which fall within the broad disciplines of Social Sciences and Management, and Arts and Humanities.

Architecture/Built Environment was ranked 22th, Art and Design came in at 25 and Development Studies was in the top 100.

This builds on the University’s traditional strengths in Commerce and Business, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, and Natural Sciences.

Now in their fifth year, the QS World University Rankings by Subject are based on research citations and reputational surveys of more than 126,000 academics and graduate employers worldwide.

Australia is the third most represented nation within the top 50 subject areas. The Australian National University leads the way, making the global top 10 in four subjects. Internationally, Harvard and MIT lead in 21 subjects between them.
