The illegal hacking of UNSW Facebook pages earlier today, ahead of our annual Open Day, will be of concern to anyone who uses social media.
The University was alerted to the hacking this morning and immediate action was taken to regain control of the pages. The offensive posts were removed as quickly as was feasible. The matter has been referred to the NSW Police and will be thoroughly investigated.
There was a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere on campus during our Open Day, with more than 25,000 students and parents attending. Our visitors will have been in no doubt about the true ethos, quality and achievements of UNSW Australia. I am grateful to all of the staff and students who worked so hard to make Open Day 2015 such a resounding success.
