Population ageing is an increasingly urgent issue for both Australia and China. The proportion of Australians aged over 65 is expected to double by 2040 while China’s population of over-60s is expected to double to 360 million by 2030.

This week’s Go8-C9 forum, hosted by UNSW, brings together outstanding PhD students from leading universities in both countries to share their ideas about how we can resolve the vast range of social, economic and health-related challenges that are likely to arise in coming years.

Topics covered during the week-long event range from stroke rehabilitation and dementia assessment to the design of motor vehicles and bathroom products that can help older people maintain their independence.

The  Go8-C9 forum is an annual event aimed at strengthening links between the Group of Eight leading Australian universities and the C9 coalition of leading Chinese universities.
