UNSW is doing its bit to cut power consumption during Earth Hour this Saturday, March 31.

From 7.30 pm - 8.30 pm, the University will switch off as many lights as possible across campus. Security and safety lighting will not be affected.

The University is also planning to significantly cut its air-conditioning load.

Staff are being asked to switch off all office equipment when they leave work on Friday evening.

UNSW is also the venue for a public Earth Hour presentation by Randwick Council on Monday evening, April 2.

The public can hear the experiences of Earth Hour Ambassador, Sarah Bishop, after walking from Brisbane to Sydney to raise awareness for the Sydney Earth Hour and Climate Change.

Peter Garrett MP, Member for Kingsford Smith, and Jon Dee, Planet Ark founder, will also talk about combating climate change.
