Appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia, law professor George Williams leads a high-profile group of UNSW academics and alumni recognised in the Queen's Birthday honours.
UNSW congratulates its eminent staff, alumni, advisers and supporters who have been recognised in this year's Queen's Birthday honours.
George Williams, Anthony Mason Professor and Foundation Director of the Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law, becomes an Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia for his distinguished service to the law in the fields of anti-terrorism, human rights and constitutional law as an academic, author, adviser and public commentator.
Appointed Members of the Order of Australia (AM) are:
Professor Les Field, UNSW's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) - for service to the administration of higher education, and to the discipline of chemistry as an academic and researcher.
Professor Lisa Jackson Pulver - for service to medical education, particularly through the Muru Marri Indigenous Health Unit, and as a supporter of educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Professor Perminder Sachdev - for service to medical research in the field of neuropsychiatry, as a clinical and academic, and to professional associations at a national and international level.
Conjoint Professor Kerryn Phelps - for service to medicine, particularly through leadership roles with the AMA, to education and community health, and as a GP.
Conjoint Senior Lecturer Dr Michael Dudley - for service to medicine as a clinician in the child and adolescent mental health area, to medical education, and to a range of professional associations.
