UNSW's new Korea Research Institute has been awarded $3 million over 10 years to foster shared interests between Australia and Korea.

An expanded Korea Research Institute (KRI@UNSW) at the Australian School of Business will examine the close links between Korea and Australia, and study the Korean model of growth and development.
The research will be funded by a grant of $3 million over 10 years from the Academy of Korean Studies.
The Institute, to be established in December 2010, builds on the work of the Korea-Australasia Research Centre.
Professor Chung-Sok Suh, Executive Director of KRI@UNSW, said the grant will strengthen the position of Institute as a leading research and education hub for Korean studies in Oceania and South East Asia.
"Engagement of this type is important to build the personal relationships that bind the two countries, and the Korea Research Institute will support researchers and interest groups through diverse programs including research projects and public forums that support socio-cultural, political and economic exchanges in the region," he said.
