Hundreds of staff and students are expected to welcome a four-metre high Cross to UNSW's Kensington campus this week.

Recognised by Catholic pilgrims as the global symbol of World Youth Day (WYD), the cross will be carried by students through the University mall to the Squarehouse.

The Cross, which will be accompanied by the Icon of Our Lady and an Indigenous message stick, has been touring the country since July 2007. It will visit a number of universities in the lead up to World Youth Day, which will be held in Sydney from July 15 to 20.

All members of the UNSW community are welcome to attend.

Where: Scientia Lawn Stairs

When: 19 March, 9.30 - 11am.
